During a patrol on 5 and 6 April 1943 Subadar Lalbahadur and his two sections made contact with the enemy near Rass-es-Zouai, Tunisia. After leading his men during the capture of the enemies forward positions, Subadar Lalbahadur sneaked forward alone. During this action he managed to put several enemies out of action and occupied the objective until the rest of his division arrived.

Subadar Lalbahadur’s Victoria Cross is publicly displayed at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester, Hampshire in Great Britain.
Lalbahadur Thapa is buried at the Pakilhawa Cemetery, Nepal.
