Awarded on: April 9th, 1946
Action: On 23 January 1945 three marines of the Royal Marine Commando were wounded in a combat action near Brachterbeek, Holland. Lance-Corporal Harden was a member of this unit and after storming over open terrain and giving first aid to a wounded marine he brought the first wounded marine back to their own lines. After doing so Lance-Corporal Harden and two stretcher-bearers moved forward again to help the other two wounded marines. When they reached the spot one of the marines was already dead. During the evacuation of the last marine Lance-Corporal Harden was hit and eventually killed by enemy fire.

Henry Eric Harden is buried at the Nederweert War Cemetery, the Netherlands.
