Action: Private Gordon's company was stopped during their advance on July 10, 1941 at Djezzine in Syria by violent machinegun and mortar fire. On his own initiative however Gordon stole forward and eliminated the machine gun and the four associated soldiers. Completely demoralized by this action of Gordon, the enemy was just later taken by surprise by the rest of the company and they secure the position.
Details: Later promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer II.
