James T. Perry reached the rank of Technician 5th Grade.
He entered active service on January 21st, 1944. James T. Perry left for Europe on December 10th, 1944 and arrived there on December 23rd. He returned for the United States on July 26th, 1945 to arrive there on August 7th. Perry was honorably discharged on February 26th, 1946.

"For meritorious service in combat during the period 16 April 1945 to 2 May 1945 in the Apennine Mountains and Po Valley, Italy. As second gunner in a machine gun squad during the final offensive in Italy, Pfivate First Class PERRY performed his duties with utmost skill and tenacity. Many times under fire in open terrain he unhesitatingly continued the push without regard for his personal safety and at one time during the push he moved out in fromt of the entire unit to deliver supporting fire for a flanking unit. His ability to meet all situations with cool courage, and his faithful devotion to duty have earned for Private First Class PERRY much commendation and are in keeping with the highest traditionsof the United States Army."
