Action: On February 12, 1942 Lieutenant Commander Esmonde led a squadron of six
Swordfish planes. They placed an attack on some German ships for the coast of the United Kingdom. One of these German ships was the Prinz Eugen. Because the array hunters touched in fighting with hostile hunters, the Swordfish planes had been designated on themselves. In spite of Esmonde's plane was hit, he continued with flying towards on its aim. However, at a certain moment, his plane had been damaged too heavy he flew on fire and paid some time later in sea. The rest of the squadron continued their attack, but eventually none of the six Swordfish planes returned to their base.
Details: Eugene Kingsmill Esmonde is buried at the Woodlands Cemetery, Cillingham, Great Britain.
