Lying under heavily firing Sergeant Elliott led his platoon at an attack on July 15, 1942 at the place of Ruweisat in the Egyptian desert. In spite of been injured to his chest he led his men by means of a bayonet attack. As a result four machine gun nests and an anti-tank gun were eliminated. During this attack seven enemies were killed and fifty were taken prison. Before he let treat himself to his wounds, he reorganized his platoon and brought the prisoners, in the meantime developed into dozens, to his headquarters.
