Murdoch Sweet was born as Canadian but moved to Newfoundland at a young age. It was not until 1949 that Newfoundland became a part of Canada. Before that is was a British colony. Beceause Murdoch Sweet was born in Canada and Newfoundland now is a part of Canada we here use the Canadian Nationality.

"On March 19, 1944, on the San Elia Cassino plain, whilst the Battery "Dauphine" of the 40th Colonial Groupe of the D.C.A. was under attack bij 12 Focke Wulf, he gave proof of his courage and great friendship in combat by bringing instand aide to a French group of which the Chief and two aides had been seriously wounded. Bringing ammunition permitted this group to defend themselves to the end and finally escape the enemy's attack."
