Francis Patrick Johnston graduated at Sandhurst in 1937 and entered the military as a 2nd Lieutenant. Prior to the beachlandings in Normandy he parachuted down with the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division to work together with the French resistence. Here he operated under the French name Fancois Jean Malcuit.
