Citation:
"Whilst his ship was engaged in Allied Naval Operations in Normandy and under enemy submarine attack, Mr Andrews did not hesitate in retrieving two armed anti-submarine, depth charge detonators, jarred loose from their housing, prior to firing of said depth charges. This was carried out whilst the ship was under attack and the enemy was engaged with no regard for his own safety and at great personal risk.
His prompt action saved his ship from serious damage and many of the ships crew from, certain injury or death”.
