Michael A. Chiodo was born 18 June 1921 to Michele Angelo and Maria Francesca Chiodo in Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio.
After graduating from High School he worked in machine shops and enlisted in the Army United States Army on 19th January 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He became the waist gunner on board the Consolidated B-24J Liberator #42-110105, piloted by Robert R. Bishop. The plane was part of 578th Bomber Squadron, 392nd Bomber Group (Heavy).
Michael Chiodo became missing in action on 29th April 1944. He is remembered on the "Wall of Missing", American Cemetery, Margraten, the Netherlands. His remains were recovered in 2010 and were buried in Cleveland, Ohio.
