"Has decorated himself in battle by showing excellent deeds of courage, policy and merit in the following way: On 17th September 1944, Colonel Kinnard and his parachute Battalion landed in a by the Germans occupied part of the Netherlands in the vecinity of Kastweel. Landed five miles away from the DZ, he collected his men in such a fsta way that the appointed goals five miles away, were taken in three hours.
He designed and accomplished a tactical magnificent attack in which he inflicted heavy casuelties upon the enemy and pushed them to the Southeast.
This menouvre resulted in the taking of 418 German prisoners. Following his successfull capture of Schijndel, he attacked strongly defended enemy strongholds on hijgh grounds West of Heerde. Fighting with his men in fierce attacks, conyinuously against a greater enemy concentration, he lead his battalion in the successfull capture of a vital terrain. In all these succeeded actions of his unit, Colonel Kinnard constantly acted in the first lines of the attack, determined and without hesitation and constantly under personal danger. His heroic leading and personal courage resulted in the success of his unit."
