Action: A company of The East Yorkshire Regiment had to withdraw their selves temporarily on April 6, 1943 at Wadi Akarit in Tunisia behind a hill. Private Anderson, a medic, returned in spite of violently hostile fire to help the wounded men. During this action he returned three times with a wounded, but he was deadly touched himself at the care of the fourth.
Details: Private Andersn’s Victoria Cross is publicly displayed at the Prince of Wales Own Regiment of Yorkshire Museum in York, East Yorkshire, England.
Eric Anderson is buried at the Sfax War Cemetery, Tunesia
