Lieutenant Cameron was the commander of mini submarine X.6. Together with Lieutenant Place, the commander of mini submarine X.7. Cameron conducted a very dangerous and daring mission against the German battleship Tirpitz on 22 September 1944 in the Kaafjord, northern Norwegian. After a voyage of approximately 1400 kilometres through enemy lines they managed to attach explosives to the hull of the Tirpitz. The damage that was done by the detonation of the explosives put the Tirpitz out of action for months.
