Action: Rifleman Thaman Gurung was attached to a combat unit and served as a scout. On 10 November 1944 his unit came under heavy enemy fire near Monte San Bartole, Italy. Thanks to his heroic actions his unit was able to pull back from its awkward situation. He stayed in his forward position and returned fire to the enemy. This made it possible for his unit to evacuate their wounded. Eventually this action cost him his life.
Details: Thaman Gurung is buried at the Rimini Gurkha War Cemetery, Italy.
