Action: On 25 May 1945, during the assault on Beaufort, Borneo, an allied forward unit came under heavy enemy fire originating from two machine-gun posts. Private Starcevich stormed forwards, firing his Bren gun from the hip, and managed to put the enemy machine-gun posts out of action by killing or driving away their crews. During a follow-up attack he managed to put several enemy positions out of action in the same way. Private Starcevich killed seven enemies during this action.

Leslie Thomas Starcevich is buried at the Esperance Public Lawn Cemetery, Australia.
