Action: Lieutenant Raymond led a reconnaissance party on March 21, 1945, in
Talaku on Burma, then they suddenly came under heavy hostile fire. Although he touched wounded on his shoulder, head and pulse during this attack, he led his men to safe positions. After his unit has reorganized, he proceeded to a counter-attack and could eventually take over the hostile posts.
Although he was badly injured, he refused any medical help before his own men were helped. However, for him the medical aid came too late, because Lieutenant Claude Raymond died the next day because of his wounds.
Details: Lieutenant Claud Raymond's Victoria Cross is publickly displayed at the Royal Engineers Museum in Chatham, Great Britain.
Claud Raymond is buried at the Taukkyan War Cemetery, Burma.
