Action:
|
On March 22, 1945, an attack of Australian infantrymen near Bougainville on the Solomon Islands was stopped by a strong hostile supremacy. Although this Australian unit was forced himself to withdraw, Corporal Rattey stormed forward on his own. By this action he fired with his Bren from his hip. He eliminated by this heroic solo action three enemy bunkers. As a result his company could continue their advance.
