Action:
|
During the battle for Arnhem Captain Queripel distinguished himself on September 19, 1944, during a 9 hours besieging. So he could lying under heavy enemy fire, rescue an sergeant from his critical position. By this action he touched wounded to his face. When the situation became very critical, the decision was made to withdrawn. In spite of the protest of his men, Queripel stayed behind to cover their retreat. With only one gun and a couple hand grenades he put on the fight with the enemy. This is the last act that his men had ever seen of him.
