BIOGRAPHY:
Alfred Montag entered service with the Wehrmacht on January 10th, 1939.
He served with the Bundeswehr from June 11th, 1957 until March 31st, 1974. Here he finally reached the rank of Oberstleutnant.

Recommendation was given on March 11th, 1945. The recommendation had arrived at the OKH/PA/P5 on April 30th, 1945, supported by the OB West, Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring, given on April 23rd, 1945.
On the back of the recommendation a remark has been placed with the text "EL Ja, Zurückstellen Hgr.B.". Not clear is wether this means the the Eichenlaub was awarded ("Ja") and this was to be notified to the Heeresgruppe B, or if the recommendation was to be send back to the Heeresgruppe B for further evaluation.
