On 9 April 1945 Sepoy Namdeo managed, while endangering his own life, to evacuate two severely wounded comrades who lay under heavy enemy fire near the river Senio, Italy. After this action he stormed forwards in the direction of the enemy and managed to put three enemy machine-gun positions out of action. Thanks to his acts of gallantry he saved many lives, and his battalion was eventually able to form a bridgehead.
