Action: Since the start of the war in 1939 until April 1943 the submarine HMS Turbulent was responsible for the sinking of several supply ships, a cruiser, a destroyer, an U-boat and 28 other ships under the command of Commander Linton. During his last year Commander Linton spend 254 days on his submarine, was hunted 13 times and suffered a total of 250 depth charges aimed at his submarine.
Details: Killed 23 March 1943 in the vicinity of the harbour of Maddelina, Italy.
Commander Linton’s body was never recovered, but his name is mentioned at The Portsmouth Naval Memorial in Hampshire, Great Britain.
